Bahrain’s business community yesterday welcomed the Free Trade Agreement with the US. Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) president Dr Essam Fakhro said that he was very encouraged by the agreement, which will pave the way for more trade between the two countries.
“A joint committee between the private sector and the relevant ministries aiming to spread the benefits of the FTA has already been announced,” said Dr Fakhro.
He said that the committee will look at ways of implementing recommendations by global strategy and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, which were unveiled at a workshop last month.
* Productive families’ handicrafts may soon be exported to the US as part of the FTA.
The move follows a deal between the Social Development Ministry and an American marketing company, said Social Development Minister Dr Fatima Al Balooshi yesterday.
